UD CVS Cutter Pliers: Chrome Vanadium Cutters for Trimming Coil Leads
Coil-building cutters from UD, made from chrome vanadium steel (CVS). They’re for the one job every build needs: trimming coil leads flush to the posts once the coil is fitted.
A flush cut matters. A lead left sticking out can touch the cap or deck and short the build, which is exactly what you don’t want with a sub-ohm coil.

What Are They For?
Trimming coil leads on RDAs, RTAs and rebuildable decks, and cutting lengths of resistance wire.
RDAs we stock that you’ll use them on: the Innokin Thermo, Vandy Vape Maze, Vandy Vape Iconic and the Uwell Nunchaku RDA kit.
Where Cutters Fit in a Build
- Wrap your coil on a jig, then fit it into the posts and tighten the screws.
- Trim the leads flush with cutters.
- Read the resistance on a regulated mod, then pulse at low power and squeeze out any hot spots with ceramic tweezers.
- Thread cotton through the coil, trim it, and tuck the tails into the well.
- Prime the cotton with e-liquid, fit the cap and start low.
Looking After Your Cutters
Keep them dry and wipe them after use. Don’t use them on steel cable or anything harder than coil wire, or the edges will dull.

Build Safety
Before you fire any build, read its resistance on a regulated mod and check your battery can take the current. Current is voltage divided by resistance: a fully charged cell at 4.2V across a 0.2Ω build draws 21A, more than many 18650s are rated for. If you’re not sure, bring the atomiser in and we’ll read it for you.
