Tools for Building Better Coils

Good tools make coil building cleaner, quicker and more consistent. Neat wraps and tidy leads help a coil heat evenly, and a small kit will last for years. Here’s what each one does and when you’d use it.

What’s in the Range

Where to Start

If you’re new to building, a set of cutters, ceramic tweezers and a coil jig cover the basics. You’ll also want scissors for trimming wicks, which the Vandy Vape Tool Kit includes. Add vape coil wire and vape wicking cotton and you have what you need to build on any of our RDA vape atomisers.

Why Ceramic Tweezers?

Tweezers are the one tool to choose carefully. When you pulse a new coil to find hot spots you’ll be pinching hot wire, so non-conductive ceramic tips avoid shorting it out against the deck. Keep your fingers clear, and pulse in short bursts rather than holding the button down.

The Vandy Vape brand page shows its drippers and tool kit together, handy if you’re putting a first build setup together.

Don’t Build Your Own?

You won’t need any of this if you use ready-made vape coils. But if you’re curious, the team at our Totton vape shop, Hythe vape shop and Holbury vape shop can talk you through what a first build involves.

Frequently Asked Questions

What tools do I need to start building coils?

Cutters, ceramic tweezers, a coil jig and scissors cover the basics. You’ll also need resistance wire and wicking cotton.

Why use ceramic tweezers for coil building?

Ceramic tips are non-conductive, so you can pinch a coil while pulsing it to remove hot spots without shorting it against the deck.

Do I need vape tools if I use ready-made coils?

No. Ready-made coils simply swap in, so these tools are only needed if you build your own.
