Description

SMOK M Coils: Mesh Replacement Coils for the Tech247 Pod

SMOK M coils are the push-fit mesh coils made for the SMOK Tech247 pod, sold five to a pack in 0.4Ω, 0.6Ω and 0.8Ω. If you own a Tech247, these are the coils it was designed around; if you don’t, they are very unlikely to be what you need, because no other SMOK kit takes them.

The name catches people out: GeekVape sells an M series coil and SMOK has Stick M17 coils, and neither swaps with the Tech247 M coil. SMOK has taken the Tech247 page down, so the wattages below come from UK retailer listings, not SMOK.

SMOK M Coil 0.4 vs 0.6 vs 0.8 Ohm

Each resistance suits a different draw. These ranges are the ones UK retailers print for the M coil; SMOK’s own figures are no longer online, so treat them as a sensible starting point rather than a hard limit.

Resistance Wattage (retailer) Draw Suits
0.4Ω 19–22W DTL Higher-VG freebase, bigger clouds
0.6Ω 15–18W Restricted DTL Nic salts or freebase, a middle-ground draw
0.8Ω 11–14W MTL Nic salts, a cigarette-style pull
White Vape Co recommends: most Tech247 owners who are switching from smoking get on best with the 0.8Ω and a 10mg or 20mg nic salt: it is the tightest draw and the gentlest on the pod’s battery. Go to the 0.6Ω if the 0.8 feels too restricted. The 0.4Ω is the one to pick for a looser, cloudier vape with low-strength freebase.

Which Devices Do SMOK M Coils Fit?

UK retailers list the M coil for one device: the SMOK Tech247 pod kit, fitted into its Tech247 pod.

We don’t stock the Tech247 itself, so this pack is here for existing owners. If your pod takes a different push-fit coil, match it by the name printed on the old coil – that is quicker and safer than matching by the letter M.

Will not fit: SMOK Nord, RPM, RPM 2 or Novo devices, or any GeekVape kit. The GeekVape M coil we also stock is a different coil for GeekVape tanks, and the SMOK Stick M17 coils are for the Stick M17 pen.

How to Fit and Prime a SMOK M Coil

  1. Take the empty pod out of the Tech247 and pull the old coil straight out of its base.
  2. Drip a few drops of your e-liquid onto the cotton you can see through the side ports of the new coil.
  3. Push the coil into the pod until it seats flush – it is a push fit, so there is nothing to screw.
  4. Fill the pod, refit it and leave it to stand. UK retailers suggest five to ten minutes for a new M coil.
  5. Start at the bottom of the range for your resistance and work up a watt at a time.

How Long Does a SMOK M Coil Last?

There is no official figure. On nic salts at the low end of its range, an M coil usually gives around a week; sweet e-liquids and higher wattage shorten that. Our guide to why a vape tastes burnt covers the usual causes of an early finish.

SMOK M Coil Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause and fix
Burnt taste on a new coil Not primed or not left to soak. Prime the cotton and wait before the first puff.
Coil will not fit my pod Check the device. M coils are for the Tech247; GeekVape M and SMOK Stick M17 coils look similar but are different parts.
Weak, muted flavour Wattage too low for the resistance, or the coil is worn. Try the next watt up, then replace.

Best E-Liquids for SMOK M Coils

Match the e-liquid to the coil. On the 0.8Ω or 0.6Ω, nic salts at 10mg or 20mg give the smoothest throat hit. On the 0.4Ω, a higher-VG freebase at 3mg or 6mg – a shortfill e-liquid with a nicotine shot works well. Not sure which type suits you? Read nic salts vs freebase.
