Description
SMOK RPM 3 Coils: Meshed 0.15 and 0.23 Ohm for the RPM 5
SMOK RPM 3 coils are the meshed coils SMOK designed for the RPM 5 and RPM 5 Pro. SMOK ships the RPM 5 pod with two of them, and its compatibility table lists the RPM 3 series for those two kits and nothing else. We stock both resistances, the Meshed 0.15Ω and the Meshed 0.23Ω.
RPM 3 is the third RPM coil family, not an upgrade you can drop into older kits. An RPM 3 coil won’t go into an RPM or RPM 2 pod, and RPM or RPM 2 coils won’t go into an RPM 5 pod. SMOK calls both RPM 3 resistances direct-lung coils.

✔ Mesh heating element
✔ Meshed 0.15Ω and 0.23Ω
✔ Both for direct-lung vaping

✔ Not for RPM or RPM 2 pods
✔ Genuine SMOK coils
RPM 3 0.15 vs 0.23 Ohm
These are SMOK’s figures from its RPM 5 coil introduction. The 0.23Ω figure looks low for a direct-lung mesh coil, but it is what SMOK prints, so we show it as published.
| Coil | SMOK wattage | SMOK’s description |
|---|---|---|
| RPM 3 Meshed 0.15Ω | 40–80W | Fast ramp-up; flavour and big vapour |
| RPM 3 Meshed 0.23Ω | 20–25W (as printed by SMOK) | More even heat surface; smoother taste |
Which Kits Take RPM 3 Coils?
Two: the SMOK RPM 5 and the RPM 5 Pro, which share the same RPM 5 pod. SMOK lists no other device for the RPM 3 series.
We don’t currently sell the RPM 5, so these coils are here for owners. If you have an older RPM-family kit, see our SMOK RPM 2 coils or SMOK RPM coils instead.
Will not fit: the RPM40, RPM 2, RPM 4, Nord 4, Nord X, IPX80 or Fetch Pro. Those take SMOK RPM coils or SMOK RPM 2 coils, depending on the pod.
How to Fit and Prime an RPM 3 Coil
- Remove the RPM 5 pod and pull the spent RPM 3 coil out of its base.
- Saturate the exposed cotton with a few drops of e-liquid – mesh coils hate a dry start.
- Push the new coil in firmly until it clicks home against the seal.
- Fill the pod, close the plug and leave it five minutes before firing.
- Begin at 40W on the 0.15Ω or 20W on the 0.23Ω.
How Long Does an RPM 3 Coil Last?
There is no SMOK figure. A 0.15Ω run hard near 80W with sweet e-liquid can be finished in a few days; the same coil at 50W on a clear fruit or menthol often lasts well over a week. Keep the pod topped up – a mesh coil running on a nearly empty pod is the quickest way to scorch it.
RPM 3 Coil Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause and fix |
|---|---|
| Coil won’t seat in my pod | Check the pod is an RPM 5 pod. RPM and RPM 2 pods are different sizes. |
| Burnt taste straight away | Not primed, or the 0.23Ω was fired well above SMOK’s figure. |
| Leaking into the airflow | Coil not fully home, or the pod was overfilled. Reseat and leave a small air gap. |
| Flavour fades within days | Sweeteners coating the mesh. Lower the wattage or switch to a less sweet e-liquid. |
Best E-Liquids for RPM 3 Coils
Both are direct-lung coils, so pair them with high-VG freebase rather than nic salts. Most RPM 5 owners use a shortfill e-liquid with a nicotine shot for 3mg. Nic salts at 10mg or 20mg are too strong for this kind of vape.
