Description

Geekvape Z XM Coils: Long-Life Mesh Coils for Z Series Tanks

Geekvape Z XM coils are the longer-life version of GeekVape’s Z Series mesh coil, sold five to a pack for the Z sub-ohm tanks on the Aegis Legend and Aegis Solo kits. We stock all three current resistances: the Z0.15 XM, Z0.2 XM and Z0.4 XM.

The version GeekVape makes today is the Boost Version, which it says lasts about twice as long as the previous generation. It sits on the same base as the standard Geekvape Z coils, so the two swap freely in any Z tank.

Z XM Coil Resistances and Wattage

GeekVape rates each XM coil for its own power band. All three are lung coils for a box mod; the Z0.2 XM is made only in the Boost Version.

Coil Resistance Wattage Best for
Z0.15 XM 0.15Ω 70–85W The biggest, warmest clouds
Z0.2 XM 0.2Ω 70–80W Dense vapour, a step below the 0.15
Z0.4 XM 0.4Ω 50–60W A cooler vape that uses less e-liquid
White Vape Co recommends: new to sub-ohm vaping? Start with the Z0.4 XM at around 55W: cooler, lighter on e-liquid and kinder on the throat. Step up to the Z0.2 XM or Z0.15 XM at 70W and above for more vapour, on a mod and batteries rated for it.

Every coil is etched with its rating: this Z0.15 XM reads 70–85W.

Which Tanks and Kits Take Z XM Coils?

GeekVape lists Z XM coils for the Z Fli, Z Fli 2, Z Subohm, Z Subohm 2021, Z Subohm SE and Z Subohm Tank 5, and the kits built around them.

The Geekvape Aegis Legend 5 Vape Kit comes with a 2ml Z sub-ohm tank and two Z XM coils, so these are its like-for-like spares. The Geekvape Aegis L200 Legend 3 Kit ships a Z Fli tank with the Z0.15 XM fitted and a Z0.4 XM spare, and GeekVape lists the Z0.15 XM and Z0.4 XM for the Geekvape Aegis Solo 3 Vape Kit too.

Buying a tank on its own? The flip-top Geekvape Z Fli tank, the child-lock Geekvape Z Sub-Ohm SE tank and the Geekvape Z Sub-Ohm Tank 5 all take every coil on this page.

Will not fit: the Geekvape Z Max tank, which takes Geekvape M coils only, or the Z Nano 2, Z Nano 3 and Aegis Hero cartridge, which use Geekvape B Series coils.

How to Fit and Prime a Z XM Coil

  1. Unscrew the tank base and pull the old coil straight out.
  2. Drip a few drops of e-liquid through each wicking hole of the new coil.
  3. Push it firmly into the base and screw the base back on.
  4. Fill the tank before you fire – GeekVape is firm on this – and wait three to five minutes. In a hurry, close the airflow and take a few unpowered puffs.
  5. Start at the bottom of the wattage band and work up.

How Long Does a Z XM Coil Last?

GeekVape says the Boost Version lasts about 100% longer than the previous generation, thanks to a denser mesh at the centre of the coil. In days, that depends on your wattage, how much you vape and your e-liquid: sweet, dark liquids gum the mesh up fastest, and GeekVape notes that very thick high-VG liquid wicks more slowly. The Z0.4 XM goes longest. Change the coil when the flavour turns flat or scorched.

Z XM Coil Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause and fix
Burnt taste from a new coil It was fired before the cotton soaked. Give the next one the full three to five minutes.
Gurgling or spitting Too much liquid in the coil. Open the airflow and take a couple of firm unpowered pulls.
Harsh hits at high wattage You’re above the coil’s band or chain vaping faster than it can wick. Drop 5–10W.

Best E-Liquids for Z XM Coils

GeekVape recommends freebase at 3mg or less and advises against nic salts in these coils, because the vapour carries a lot of nicotine per puff. A shortfill e-liquid topped up with a single nic shot gets you there. Save 10mg and 20mg nic salts for an MTL pod kit.
