Description

Vaporesso GTi Coils: Sub-Ohm Mesh for the iTank 2 and iTank T

Vaporesso GTi coils are the sub-ohm mesh coils for Vaporesso’s iTank 2 and iTank T, and so for the Armour MAX, Armour S and Armour Ultra kits. Vaporesso built the GTi platform specifically for direct-to-lung vaping, with larger airways and even heating. There are five coils in a pack, and we stock the 0.15Ω, 0.2Ω, 0.4Ω and 0.5Ω.

GTi coils run hotter than most: the 0.15Ω goes up to 90W. They are not the same as GTX coils, even though the names are one letter apart. Here’s how to pick a resistance, what to set, and how the two iTanks differ.

GTi Coil Resistances and Wattage

Vaporesso’s figures, which match the ranges printed on the coils. Vaporesso’s two sites disagree slightly on the best setting for the 0.15Ω (80W or 85W); the range is the same.

Resistance Wattage Best Style
0.15Ω mesh 75–90W 80–85W DTL
0.2Ω mesh 60–75W 65W DTL
0.4Ω mesh 50–60W 55W DTL
0.5Ω mesh 30–40W 35W Restricted DTL
White Vape Co recommends: the 0.4Ω at around 55W is the one we’d start most people on – plenty of vapour, easier on liquid and battery than the 0.2Ω. The 0.2Ω at 65W is the one the Armour kits ship pre-fitted. Only reach for the 0.15Ω if you want maximum cloud and don’t mind refilling often; choose the 0.5Ω for a tighter, cooler lung hit.

Which Tanks and Kits Take GTi Coils?

Vaporesso’s GTi coil listing names the iTank 2 and iTank T, and through them the Armour MAX, Armour S and Armour Ultra kits.

The Vaporesso Armour MAX Kit and Vaporesso Armour S Kit both come with the iTank 2, and the Vaporesso Armour Ultra Vape Kit with the iTank T – all three run the full GTi range. The Armour MAX reaches 220W and the Armour S and Ultra 100W, so even the 0.15Ω at 90W is within reach.

Replacing the tank itself? The Vaporesso iTank T is in stock, and the Vaporesso iTank 2 takes the same coils when it’s back. Vaporesso also lists the GEN 200 kits.

Will not fit: GTX devices and pods – the Armour G, Armour GS, Armour G Series pods, GTX One and LUXE XR. Vaporesso says GTi and GTX are separate platforms and not interchangeable.

How to Fit and Prime a GTi Coil

  1. Take the iTank off the mod and open it to reach the coil, as shown in the tank’s manual.
  2. Pull out the old GTi coil and push the new one in until it’s secure.
  3. Wet the cotton through the side ports and add a few drops down the chimney. Vaporesso gives no priming steps, so this is our routine.
  4. Reassemble the tank, fill from the top and leave it ten minutes.
  5. Start 10W below Vaporesso’s best figure and increase gradually.

How Long Does a GTi Coil Last?

Vaporesso says a GTi coil typically lasts five to six tank refills – one to two weeks for a daily DTL vaper – and that its dual-mesh versions last a little longer. That fits what our Armour customers report. The 0.15Ω at 90W wears fastest; the 0.5Ω goes longest. Replace it when the taste turns dull or burnt.

GTi Coil Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause and fix
Coil doesn’t fit my Armour G The Armour G uses GTX coils. You need Vaporesso GTX coils.
Leaking after a coil change The tank isn’t fully reassembled or an O-ring has moved. Reseat it and tighten gently.
Dry hits at high power The wick can’t keep up. Drop 5W and use 70% VG.
Gurgling Open the airflow and give the tank a sharp flick into a tissue.

Best E-Liquids for GTi Coils

Vaporesso doesn’t give nicotine or VG guidance for GTi coils. For sub-ohm coils running 30–90W, we recommend a 70/30 shortfill at 3mg, or 6mg on the 0.5Ω. Thin 50/50 liquids and nic salts will spit, flood and deliver far too much nicotine at these powers.
