Mixing With PG and VG

Almost every e-liquid is built on two base liquids, propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG). Buying them separately lets you set your own ratio when you mix from concentrates or top up a long fill. We stock PG (Propylene Glycol) and VG (Vegetable Glycerin) in 1 litre bottles from Vampire Vape. Both are USP/EP grade and UK made in a clean room.

What Each One Does

  • PG is the thinner liquid. It carries flavour and gives more of a throat hit.
  • VG is thicker and produces more of the vapour, with a slightly smoother feel.

Choosing a Ratio

The right blend depends on your device. Thicker, high-VG mixes suit sub-ohm tanks, whose coils have larger wicking ports. Thinner mixes with more PG suit small pods and higher-resistance mouth-to-lung coils, where a thick liquid may not wick quickly enough. If you’re not sure, your coil’s manufacturer may recommend a range, and it’s worth starting close to the ratio of an e-liquid you already enjoy.

Adding Nicotine

Base liquids contain no nicotine on their own. To add it, use nic shots, and our nic shot calculator will work out how many you need for your bottle size and target strength. Take care when handling nicotine, wash off any spills straight away and keep everything well away from children and pets. Store bottles sealed, somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight.

Both bottles come from Vampire Vape, whose brand page also lists its ready-to-vape e-liquids.

Don’t Want to Mix?

Mixing isn’t for everyone. Ready-to-vape nic salts and shortfill e-liquids give you a set ratio with no measuring. For more on mixing from scratch, see our DIY vape supplies and long fill e-liquids, or ask at our Totton vape shop, Hythe vape shop and Holbury vape shop.
