Description
iJoy CA3 Coils: 0.25 Ohm Heads for the Captain S Tank
The iJoy CA3 coils are 0.25Ω heads rated 60–100W, and the spare coil iJoy packed with its Captain S sub-ohm tank. Our pack holds three.
iJoy’s Captain family is easy to mix up: the CA3 belongs to the Captain S, not the original Captain or the Captain X3.

CA3 vs CA2: Resistance and Wattage
The Captain S came with two heads. We sell the CA3; the CA2 was the one fitted at the factory. Here is how they compare on iJoy’s own ratings:
| Resistance | Coil | Wattage | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.25Ω | CA3 (this pack) | 60–100W | Our pick for dense clouds on 70/30 or 80/20 liquid |
| 0.3Ω | CA2 (fitted in the Captain S) | 60–80W | A lower ceiling, so it suits smaller mods |
Which Tanks Do iJoy CA3 Coils Fit?
iJoy supplied the CA3 with one tank: the Captain S sub-ohm tank.
The Captain S is a 25mm tank with a sliding top-fill cap and a groove in the chassis that iJoy says cuts heat transfer from the coil to the glass. It came with a CA2 fitted and a CA3 in the box, so these are its natural spares. The tank is an older model and we no longer sell it, but we keep CA3 heads for customers still running one.
Will not fit: the Captain Mini, which uses CA-M coils; the Captain X3 and X3S, which take iJoy X3 coils; or the Captain X. Some shops also list the CA3 for the original Captain sub-ohm tank, but iJoy paired that tank with CA2 and CA8 heads, so we won’t promise a fit. Bring the tank in and we’ll check.

How to Fit and Prime iJoy CA3 Coils
- Empty the tank and unscrew the base from the glass section.
- Pull the old head straight out. CA-series coils have no thread, so they simply unplug.
- Wet the new CA3 with a few drops of e-liquid through its side wicking ports.
- Push it firmly into the base, screw the tank back together, slide the top cap open and fill.
- Leave it ten minutes so the cotton soaks right through, then start at 60–65W.
How Long Does an iJoy CA3 Coil Last?
iJoy doesn’t give a lifespan. A 0.25Ω head run at 70W or more gets through liquid and cotton faster than a low-power coil, so a week or two is typical for daily use. Change it when the flavour dulls or you notice a burnt edge on the exhale.
CA3 Coil Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause and fix |
|---|---|
| Dry or burnt hit on a new coil | It wasn’t soaked long enough, or the power started too high. Fit a fresh head, soak it for ten minutes and start at 60W. |
| Gurgling or spitting | The wick has flooded. Take a couple of firm draws without firing, then vape a little higher in the 60–100W range. |
| Leaking from the base | The head isn’t pushed fully home, or an O-ring is pinched. Reseat it before you refill. |
Best E-Liquids for CA3 Coils
iJoy designed the CA2 and CA3 around high-VG liquid, so thick 70/30 or 80/20 shortfill e-liquids suit them best, with a nic shot added for around 3mg. Keep nic salts and stronger 50/50 10ml e-liquids for a pod kit or MTL tank; at 60W and above they’re far too harsh.
