Description
Eleaf EC Coils: 0.3 and 0.5 Ohm Heads for iJust 2 and Melo Tanks
Eleaf EC coils are the sub-ohm heads Eleaf designed for the iJust 2, and they fit the Melo tank family too. Each pack holds five, in 0.3Ω or 0.5Ω.
The EC isn’t a mesh coil. Eleaf builds it with two heating wires placed vertically side by side – a parallel dual-wire design – in 0.4mm Kanthal, with organic cotton, a larger air hole and threads at both ends.

EC Head Resistances and Wattage
Eleaf’s figures, which are also printed on each head:
| Resistance | Wattage | Build |

| 0.5Ω | 30–100W | Parallel dual wire, 0.4mm Kanthal |

Which Tanks Take Eleaf EC Coils?
Eleaf designed the EC for the iJust 2, and its FAQ lists the EC series for the iJust 2 Mini, Melo, Melo 2, Melo III and Melo III Mini. The Melo 2 shipped with an EC 0.3Ω.
Eleaf’s store also says the EC fits its Melo and iJust tanks generally, but not every iJust takes it, so we’ve stuck to the named models. UK retailers mention further tanks, including some from other brands; Eleaf doesn’t confirm them, so check with us first.
Will not fit: the original Lemo, Lemo Drop or Lemo 2, or the iJust AIO, which use other Eleaf heads. Our Eleaf Mini iStick 20W tops out at 20W, below the EC’s 30W minimum, so we wouldn’t pair the two.

How to Fit and Prime an Eleaf EC Coil
- Drain the tank and unscrew the old head.
- Eleaf’s advice: drip a few drops of liquid straight into the new head and let it soak.
- Screw the head in until snug – don’t overtighten.
- Fill, wait five minutes and start at 30–35W.
How Long Does an Eleaf EC Coil Last?
Eleaf doesn’t give a figure. Around a week is typical at DL power; change it when the taste goes dull or burnt.
EC Head Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause and fix |
|---|---|
| Burnt taste | Eleaf says very thick high-VG liquid can cause this. Try 60/40 or 70/30 rather than max-VG. |
| Leaking | Check the head is screwed in fully and the O-rings are seated. |
Best E-Liquids for Eleaf EC Coils
These are sub-ohm lung-hit heads, so use a 3mg or 6mg shortfill. Eleaf warns that liquid that is too thick contributes to burnt taste, so 60/40 or 70/30 is safer than max-VG.
